Bear Feels Sick
by Karma Wilson

Autumn has come to the woods, and Bear doesn't feel well. He sniffles and sneezes. He cannot sleep. He aches all over. Worst of all, he's feeling too poorly to play with his friends.

How Bear's good friends take care of him with herbal tea and lullabies until hebegins to feel better is the heart of this loving story that will be familiar to any little one who has ever had the sniffles.

The compelling artwork and clever text work perfectly in this book.  The story is nicely paced and there are lots of familiar images and experiences.  Children will like the suspense wondering when Bear will get better.  You child will be able to identify with not feeling well, and the story will provide a sense of caring as Bear's friends try to help him feel better.

Children will want to read this book over and over again.  They will talk about the story, and you can encourage them to ask questions as you read.  You may find them finishing the sentences and even memorizing the text so they can read along.

I just love the illustrations in this book.  Everything about them works, such as the details, colors and expressions.  Wilson has written several Bear books, and they are all wonderful.  My granddaughter Audra loves the concern all the animals show for their friend Bear.  I love reading it because it is just so pretty to look at.
