If you have a Dora fan at home, this double book bargain is a must have. Dora's Bedtime Adventures includes two bedtime stories in one soft cover book with board pages; the book is as fun to handle for your little one as it is to read! Each page is outlined in a pretty purple boarder with stars, while the pictures are filled with full backgrounds of slightly muted color, making the vibrantly colored main characters appear to almost pop right off the page. The pages vary in length from one to three sentences, and the second story contains eleven Spanish words, as Dora wishes goodnight to all the animals she comes across in English, then in Spanish.
There are plenty of opportunities for your little one to interact directly with the book; the first story asks them to make their own wish on Little Star. This will change night-to-night, keeping the story fresh as your child hears the thoughtful wishes of Isa and Little Star for flowers and good dreams for their friends, and then your child gets to add a personal wish at the end. The second story is filled with new animals to recognize, name, and repeat the sound-effect words like peep, buzz, cluck, squeak, hiss, ribbet, and hoot.
My niece Emily, is a huge Dora fan, so this book immediately became a bedtime favorite. She waits excitedly for her chance to share her bedtime wish, which has included so far "For Mom to make chocolate chip cookies tomorrow," "A new Barbie bike for my birthday", and "A pet monkey like Boots." Probably only one of those will come true any time soon, but perhaps we can get a monkey-shaped cookie cutter.
