Eloise comes to animated life in this delightful and hilarious adventure of The Plaza's most famous six-year old. It's Eloise's sixth birthday and she's planning the most special party ever! Everything is going just right until a new girl - a young Japanese violin prodigy named Yuko shows up and steals all of the attention. Eloise decides it is her job to show Yuko just how fun the Plaza can be. The two new friends take off on a "rawther" extraordinary adventure that takes a surprising turn and they almost miss the big day! Imagination runs wild and being bored is never allowed in this adventure featuring the talented voices of Lynn Redgrave as Nanny and Tim Curry as Mr. Salamone!
The lovable and trouble-causing yet well-intentioned young New Yorker, Eloise, jumps from the pages to the screen in this charming DVD about making a new friend. As Eloise prepares for her sixth birthday party, she struggles with sharing the attention with a new girl in the building. Although Eloise struggles with a language barrier - the new family is from Japan - she eventually finds that the pair has a lot in common. Aspiring fashionistas will love the stylish outfits of Eloise, especially when she wears matching sunglasses with her adorable dog.
Kids will recognize the "Happy Birthday" song as well as the longing to be a "normal kid." In today's world, a lot of kids are feeling pressured to join many different activities and strive to excel in at least one of them, which doesn't leave much time to just be a kid.
Avery, a four-year-old that I occasionally babysit, thought Eloise's birthday party looked like a lot of fun and said she wants her birthday to be just like that! She also surprised me by noticing early on that Yuko, the young Japanese girl, only seemed to be uninterested in playing with Eloise while in reality she was afraid of upsetting her American guardian who was determined to make Yuko a star.
